Lazy 5 Ranch

We went to the Lazy 5 Ranch with my friend Holly and her kids Mila, Eli and Siler on one of the hottest days of the summer.  We thought we were being smart when we reserved spots on the first wagon ride of the morning.  But, it was still hot.  Really hot.  The kids didn't seem to mind until it got close to lunchtime, then they all started to melt down.  Holly and I tried our very best not to melt down with them.

But before the meltdowns came the wagon ride.  We sat on a horse-drawn wagon with about 20 other people and rode through the zoo.  All the animals have free roam and can come up to the wagon to get food pellets.

Here's a hungry guy right now.  Since we were the first wagon of the morning, all the animals were waiting for us.  And they were all hungry.

Noah decided he didn't want to sit near the feed buckets after he saw other kids getting swarmed by animals while holding the buckets.  He's pretty smart, that Noah.

Isaac says, "Hmm...what animals will we see next?"

Isaac gazes at the water buffaloes in the pond.

Noah decided it was a lot of fun to throw the food pellets at the animals and the wagon ride started getting more fun.  He liked throwing the pellets and watching to see what animals would come and eat.

Noah and Isaac were unanimous in their decision to not feed the giraffes.

After the wagon ride, we went to the petting zoo.  That's when the temps started to catch up with us.

We fed a few animals, looked around...

...and called it a day.  A good, fun, hot day.
