Isaac is Four Months Old!

We are having fun really getting to see Isaac's personality. He has become so much more social in the last month. When we're at home, he loves to "talk" to us and he makes the cutest baby noises and he becomes really excited and animated. When we're out, he has big smiles for everyone he sees (especially the ladies), and he throws in an occasional "ah-goo" just to get people talking about how cute he is.

Isaac thinks that anything Noah does is absolutely hilarious. If Noah jumps up and down, Isaac laughs. If Noah makes a funny face, Isaac laughs even harder. He looks around until he finds Noah and watches everything he does. Thankfully, Isaac still has a high tolerance for noise and he still doesn't mind when Noah plays his drums "very very very loud," as Noah says.

Isaac has also become all hands this month. He loves to hold his hands up and study his fingers, and he loves to chew on his fingers and fists. But more fun than that is his new ability to pull Mommy's hair! He has an amazing talent to grab a hand full of my hair and wrap it around his hand in such a way that it's really painful to remove!

Baby Jeans

There is something so cute about baby jeans! Isaac can look like a baby in the morning when he's wearing his pajamas, but when I change him into his baby jeans, he looks like a little man!

Washing Duplos

Last fall we left the bin of Duplos out on the porch for a few weeks and they became dirty and a few spiders took up residence in the blocks. We had fun filling up the sandbox with soapy water and we spent a morning washing duplos in the backyard. Ever since then, Noah will occasionally look through the Duplos and say, "hmmm..." as he inspects them. A few days ago, he dragged the bin to the kitchen sink and said "these are dirty." He pushed his step stool up to the sink, climbed up and asked me to put bubbles in the sink. He spent quite a bit of time washing before he declared that all his blocks were clean and ready to use again.

Book Nook Nap

Noah took another nap in his book nook the other day. When he woke up, the first thing I heard was his laughter as he figured out where he was. Hopefully this isn't becoming a trend!

Tiny Bubbles

Isaac has become quite the drooler! We are always joking and saying that he must be cutting his first tooth. There are always tiny bubbles (and sometimes not so tiny) to be found around his mouth and chin. It's becoming a full-time job to keep his little bibs washed and ready for the drool. The last time Noah hugged Isaac, he said "Baby Isaac is wet!" and Noah had Isaac's drool on his cheek!

Hugs

One of Noah's favorite things to say lately is "I want to hug baby Isaac." He gives Isaac a big hug (sometimes too big, but he's learning) and sometimes kisses his cheek and paci. Isn't that sweet?

Playtime!

Isaac was having a lot of fun playing in his floor gym, so Noah wanted to join him. Noah set up the second floor gym, and then Emma didn't want to be left out of the fun, so she came over to play too! Here's a few more pictures.

Edible

Some days I'm surprised that Isaac's cheeks aren't chapped - they get kissed all day, every day :-)

Firefighter Noah

Noah takes firefighting very seriously. He created his own fire station out of blocks then lined up his firetrucks. We worked together to find people and animals who need help and put them on top of the bin. Then Noah sat down in his station and waited for the bell to ring (he rings the bell himself). When the bell rang, he would drive the ladder truck over to the people and animals and have some of them climb off the bin and down the ladder. The part that cracks me up is every time he was waiting for the bell to ring, he would have the most bored look on his face, like he couldn't stand it any longer. Here's some more firefighting pictures.

Our Dinner Table

This is a typical scene at our dinner table. Isaac sits on the table in his bouncy seat so he can participate in dinnertime conversation. Emma always hovers in the background behind Noah because she knows that's the best place to get little snacks that drop off Noah's plate by accident. Noah is now able to reliably drink from a real cup (not a sippy cup), and he also usually eats from a real plate with real silverware.

What Are You Eating?

We know it's really unusual, but Noah's favorite new food is lettuce. He particularly likes Ken's brand Balsamic and Basil Vinaigrette dressing. He was on his third serving of salad when this picture was taken. He kept saying, "More lettuce please!" What toddler says that??

Snow in the South

We have snow! About five inches fell over the weekend and it was quickly coated with a layer of ice. When Noah woke up and saw the snow, he ran to his dresser and pulled out his snow pants and said "let's go play outside!" When we were getting him dressed, we couldn't find any mittens that were the right size, so we put socks on his hands, then sandwich baggies, then another pair of socks. Noah thought it was funny that his hands made crinkling sounds! Then we wanted to find something that Noah could sled on the driveway with. We looked all around and decided that a cookie sheet would do the job just fine, and it did! Noah fits perfectly on a cookie sheet!
