I Can Pull Up and Stand Up All By Myself!

Noah has become a very busy little boy! He can pull himself up in an instant, and he has become much more balanced when he's standing. In the last few days, he has started to creep while standing. He can creep all the way around his activity table while he's playing, and he can creep about half the length of the couch. He has begun experimenting with crawling on his hands and knees. He's taken 4 or 5 little crawls, but then he decides it's much faster to do the army-man crawl on his belly.

Noah has also become quite the eating machine. He is eating more and more finger-foods like peaches, pears, bananas, avocados and nutragrain bars. Oh, and along with eating more foods has come the fun of dropping things. He will eat from his mesh feeder for a while, but then decides it's more fun to drop it on the floor and look down at it. He rarely is finished eating when he drops it, he just like the act of dropping it. Sometimes he'll make the sign for "more," and sometimes he'll just whine until we continue feeding him. He also will spend time picking up and dropping his toys while he plays on the floor.
As you can see from this week's pictures, he has also become quite the ham for the camera. He gets really excited when the camera comes out, and he is non-stop smiles once we start taking pictures.

Hi Grandma Marilyn!

We had fun with Grandma Marilyn last weekend, even though it was cold, rainy and snowy here. Noah showed off his new crawling skills, and he also did a great job eating out in restaurants. We packed his mango and mesh eater along with lots of toys, and he was content sitting in a restaurant high chair while he played and people-watched. We also played a rousing game of Monopoly after Noah went to bed. Here's hoping that the next time we're together, the weather is better and we can go out and see the world! Here's a few more pictures from our weekend.

Snow Day!

We woke up to find about three inches of snow on the ground this morning! Unfortunately, we couldn't go out and play because by the time Noah ate breakfast, the snow had turned to rain. Noah crawled to the back door on his own to look at the snow - he definitely noticed that something was different!

The last few days have been full of changes around here. First of all, one of Noah's top teeth is just about to pop through. The tooth looks so big for his little mouth! He has had some teething pain for the last few days, but he seems to be taking it in stride. Noah surprised us yesterday by pulling himself up from sitting to standing all by himself! He can also go from a crawling position to sitting on his knees. He's really unstable while he's standing or sitting on his knees, so we can never be more than an arm's-length away wherever he goes. Matt lowered the mattress in Noah's crib, but Noah hasn't tried to pull himself up yet after a nap. He's currently very interested in his bumper pad, and he keeps busy by trying to untie the bumper pad and suck on the little string ties.

Noah says "da da" quite a lot , it now really means "Daddy"! He also said "aye-ah" for "all done" and "bye-ah" for bye. He is doing the sign for "more" quite a bit (it looks like he's clapping with his fingertips).

He is continuing to try a few new foods. Yesterday, Noah ate little pieces of banana and blueberry Nutragrain bar. He has gotten quite skilled at picking up food and shoveling it into his mouth as fast as he can! He also continues to love eating mango in he mesh feeder.

Grandma Marilyn comes tomorrow for a visit, and Noah is looking forward to seeing her again! Here's some pictures to enjoy.

I'm Learning to Feed Myself!

As you can see, Noah is quite proud of himself these days! He has been working all week on picking up Puffs - little baby finger food. He has learned how to pick up Puffs with his whole hand, like he's wearing mittens. He has also learned how to get the food to his mouth, chew a little bit, and swallow without gagging. It's been a big week! He really loves feeding himself. Noah is also starting to learn how to use a sippy cup, but it will take a while to master. He currently uses it as a teether.

Noah is crawling all over the house, and he can easily make it from one end of the house to the other. He is still doing the "army man" crawl, where he pulls himself along with this right elbow and his left hand. He also is quite good at collecting all the dog hair as he goes around the house. He thinks it's really funny when we lint-roll his clothes to get rid of the dog hair. He has some new favorite things - his piano keyboard, his baby hair brush and Laura's watch.

It's been a beautiful week here, so we have spent some fun time at the park. Noah still loves to swing, but now he swings and claps as he watches the big kids run around. It's pure joy! Here's a few pictures.

Christmas in Arizona

Happy New Year to everyone! We had a great trip to Arizona, and we had so much fun with family. We stayed with Grammy and Grandad, and Noah had hours of fun playing with toys and showing off his new crawling skills. Noah met his Great Aunt Edie, and impressed her by sitting in a high chair at a restaurant and playing with two spoons. He also had fun with Uncle David, Aunt Stephanie and his cousins Travis, Connor and Jacob. He was facinated by their new kitten, and he giggled the first time he saw it - the kitten came right up to Noah's nose and her whiskers tickled his face.

Noah can do so much now! He has spent the last few days crawling all over our house, and he now follows Laura around wherever she goes. He learned how to wave "Hi," (one hand up in the air) accompanied with a sound that sounds like "Hey!" It's so cute! He is also waving "Bye bye" (one hand waving up and down.) Noah learned how to clap during the Michigan vs. Florida game, and he shows his excitement throughout the day by clapping - he likes to practice while he's laying in his crib after a nap. He has a facination with electrical outlets, so we have quickly child-proofed our house (well, at least the outlets). Noah played with a piano keyboard at Grammy's house, and he now plays with a keyboard here at home - he likes to bang on it and see what kind of noises and rhythms it makes. His favorite things around the house continue to be the remote controls, cell phones, house phones and laptops.

Here's our vacation pictures - there's so many that we split them into two albums: family pictures and pictures of Noah.
