Isaac is Three Months Old!

Isaac has grown from an 'infant' to a 'baby' this month. He intently watches everything going on around him, and he has definite opinions of his own now. He is so smiley, and he is being constantly entertained by the antics of his big brother. He has been going through a period of fussiness and spitting up, but it must be something developmental at this age because we remember Noah having the same issues around this time. He continues to love being held with his belly on our forearm - kind of the upside-down football position. There must be something very soothing about it, especially when he's feeling fussy.

We have settled into a predictable schedule where he goes to bed at 8pm and is up for the morning about 8am, with two overnight feedings. He takes three naps during the day and eats every three to four hours. He is sleeping overnight in his crib now, which was an emotional moment for me, but he Isaac is sleeping so much better now that he is in the crib. As for transportation, he loves stroller rides and the baby bjorn carrier. He likes car rides too, but he doesn't like the time between putting him in the car seat and when the car starts to move. He likes the motion and he doesn't like to wait!

Has it only been three months since Isaac has joined our family? We can't remember what life was like without him. He is a great blessing to us, and we can't wait to see what God has in store for him.

Baby Noah

Noah has become such a wonderful and loving big brother. We are so proud of how he has adjusted over the last 12 weeks. He is truly excited to see Isaac every morning, and he thinks it's funny when Isaac makes little baby noises and smiles at him. We were expecting him to be more jealous than he has been, so it's a great relief.

The main change is that Noah frequently turns into "Baby Noah." Baby Noah likes to sit in Isaac's bouncy chair and play under the floor gym (he's wearing Isaac's bib in the above picture). More importantly, Baby Noah needs to be held and rocked like a baby while he flails his arms and makes baby noises. Sometimes Baby Noah's imaginary pacifier falls out and we need to put it back in for him so he'll stop fussing. It's kind of funny how Noah refers to himself in the third person as "Baby Noah" and clearly tells us how he wants to be held. Then, the next minute, he's a toddler again and wants to do everything by himself!

Too Many Pictures!

I'm having fun looking through pictures from December, and this one makes me laugh! We took lots and lots of pictures on Christmas day, and this shot was toward the end of the evening. I love pictures of the boys together, and their eyes are both telling us the same thing in this shot - "You have taken too many pictures of us today!!" Sorry guys, but you're both good sports!

Go Blue!

This picture is from about a month ago (December 15, 2009), when Noah and Isaac were wearing their matching University of Michigan pajamas (from Grammy and Grandad, of course!). Noah thought it was great that they had the same clothes to wear! He's trying to give Isaac a hug in this picture.

Puppy and Monkey

This is a picture from Christmas Day, after Isaac opened his present from Noah. Noah gave him a monkey to seep with, just like he sleeps with his puppy everyday. Monkey is currently propped up in Isaac's room, anxiously awaiting the day when Isaac is old enough to sleep with a big stuffed animal/pillow.

Isaac's Exercise Routine

Isaac had his two-month well-check yesterday, and we are happy to report that he weighs 15 pounds and 3 ounces (97th percentile), and he is 24.5 inches long (90-95th percentile). We are so thankful that he is perfectly healthy.

Isaac is so fun to watch when he gets kicking! In this video, he's laying on our bed and watching the ceiling fan while Noah takes a bath.

Finger Painting!

I think that finger painting has become one of Noah's all-time favorite things to do. What could be more fun for a two-and-a-half year old? Thank goodness for washable finger paints! When Noah is finished painting, he insists that he needs to wash his hands all by himself. That means that hand prints are left on the bathroom door, the stool by the sink, the sink bowl, the faucets, the soap bottle, and occasionally on the wall if I don't get to him in time. Once he gets to the soap, he does do a really good job of washing off the paint, though!

Noah's Drums

Our house has been rockin' to the sound of drums lately. Noah got this electronic drum set for Christmas, and he plays with it at various times throughout the day, every day. It has three cymbals and three drums, and he's getting good at keeping a rhythm and hitting different drum pads. He's also been good at sharing it with Daddy!

Endless Smiles

Isaac's name means "he will laugh," and he has been living up to his name! It is so fun to hear his coos and baby "talk," and he laughs at us quite a bit - I guess he likes us! I had fun taking lots of pictures of him after a bath. The hair on the left side of his head takes on a life of it's own after it's been washed. No matter how I comb it, it stands straight up! His hair has a tinge of red in it right after it's been washed, and the sunlight in these pictures helps to show his deep blue eyes. I couldn't decide on just a few pictures, so I made an album with them all. You can decide which one is your favorite!
