Emma's New Master

Emma has a new master, and his name is Noah. When Noah was born, Emma was quite reluctant to welcome him into our family. She mostly pretended he didn't exist and quickly exited the room when he started to cry. Emma soon became more curious about Noah, and would even lay on the floor near him as he was playing with his floor gym. As the months progressed, Noah became mobile and Emma started to think he was interesting. Then, as soon as Noah started sitting in his high chair and eating solid food, the light bulb went off in Emma's mind -- this little boy is a wonderful food source! He's always dropping yummy crumbs, he leaves crumbs behind in the seat of his high chair, and he tends to have sticky fingers most of the day.

When Noah was a newborn, we would sit and watch Emma eat her food everyday because, well, sometimes it's hard to figure out what to do with a newborn everyday! So, now Noah sits on the floor and watches Emma eat her dinner everyday. He's facinated by everything she does. Noah likes to feed Emma a few pieces of her food, and he laughs when Emma eats out of his hand. Emma is truly a gentle giant, and she is entirely submissive to Noah, so we don't worry when Noah feeds her. Here's some more pictures.

Daddy's View of the World

Noah loved the view from Daddy's office in uptown Charlotte. The view from the 32nd floor is pretty cool, isn't it? We met Matt for lunch on Friday, then went to his office so Noah could walk around and meet his co-workers. It was a big adventure and Noah really took a liking to the working world. Here's a few more pictures.

Double Daddy Day!

Today is Double Daddy Day! It is Matt's birthday and Father's Day. We have had such a fun and busy day. We went to the They Might Be Giants concert in Charlotte - Matt was a big fan in high school and now TMBG are on tour promoting their kid's album. Noah really liked the concert, and he seemed to be analyzing the technical side of the show, just like Matt :-) We also went to an outdoor concert in Davidson with friends, and Noah had fun walking around, making friends with the ladies, and finding dogs to pet. We finished off the day by eating Matt's delicious birthday cake - carrot cake with cream cheese frosting - yum!

Pillow Mountain

Noah loves to fall on the pillows, roll around, and get tickled. It's a fun way to end the day!

Ahh...No More Construction

Just in time for the heat and humidity of summer, our covered back porch is finished. Ahh...listen...no more banging...it's so quiet! Right now, the only time we can enjoy it is early in the morning or late at night, but that's ok! We're so happy it's finished.

When It's Too Quiet for Too Long...

Noah was playing quietly by himself for quite a while this afternoon, and this is why! He opened the pantry, then opened the box of rice krispies and poured them on the floor. Then he happily sat and ate his snack!

Noah's Treasures

Noah has had fun with his red car for about a month now, and he spends time every day putting all sorts of things in the hood compartment. This is the inventory of his current stash of treasures: one junkmail postcard, one pack of wildflower seeds, 10+ woodchips, 3 rocks, a handfull of pinestraw, some dead grass, and a few handfulls of dirt. Noah delights in opening the compartment and seeing all his things.

Newspaper Delivery

Yesterday morning, Noah walked to the end of the driveway and picked up the newspaper. He walked around with it outside, then brought it inside. Isn't he a cute delivery boy?

I Really Really Really Want to Touch These Buttons!

Noah loves electronics and buttons. They're some of his favorite things in the world. He has a "corner of temptation" in the house, where the cable box, DVD player and stereo are right at his eye level. It presents Noah with an hourly (or more) dilemma: should he touch the buttons and get in trouble or somehow find the inner strength to just hover is finger over the buttons without touching? We've found a little bit of a solution to the situation: Noah likes to stand and really really look at the buttons, and if we say, "say hi to the buttons" and "say bye-bye to the buttons," he'll wave hi and bye to the buttons and be satisfied enough to go on his merry way. It doesn't happen that easily all the time, but sometimes it works! Here's some more pictures of Noah and his electronics.

Walking!

It's official! Noah is a walker! We just came back from a fun evening with friends in Davidson, and Noah had so much fun walking around with the other kids. He is gaining confidence and can steadily walk about 15 feet. He can also squat down to investigate something on the sidewalk, then stand up again. It is so much fun to watch Noah turn into a toddler! Here's some pics.
