Rainy Day

Ahh, rain! It's going to rain all week, so we're having fun everywhere except outside. Noah played with his toys on our covered porch for hours today, and it was really nice to be out there and listen to the rain while we played. These pictures were taken while Noah listened to his "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" CD before his nap. He sat on the ottoman and looked out the window at the rain and the passing cars. I thought the garbage truck might be coming by, so Noah got excited about the possibility of that, but the truck never came. Tomorrow, we're going to try out the indoor water park at the YMCA. That should be fun!

The Sleepy Skipper

We had a fun morning on our friend Chris's boat. Noah got off to a crabby start because he didn't like the feel of his life vest, and he was hungry and sleepy. After we were out on the lake, he had a little snack and fell fast asleep. When he woke up, he was gleefully happy to be on the boat. He really wanted to help Matt drive the boat and push all the buttons. He had fun walking around the boat, and he liked sitting on Laura's lap in the front of the boat and feeling the wind in his face. Here's the pictures. Enjoy!

Summer Fun

Noah wants to be outside all the time. He stands at the front door and bangs on it until we go out! One of his favorite things to do is play with sidewalk chalk. He occasionally sits down to color on the driveway, but he prefers to walk around with the chalk, then randomly squat down and make a mark on the sidewalk.

Other favorite things to do outside: play with the hose, put leaves and pine bark in buckets, water the flowers, walk on the sidewalk, look for cats and dogs, look for stop signs, wave to cars and the school bus, help pull weeds, etc. Noah has a lot of fun playing with his friend and neighbor, Jack. Noah loves pushing Jack's toy lawnmower, and Jack loves riding in Noah's red car. There's two "summer fun" photoalbums - here and here.

Look Out, Duck!

I love this picture! It really captures a moment around the house. This push duck is Noah's absolute favorite toy. He loves to push it around the house. When he pushes it, the duck's wings flap up and down and it makes a clicking noise. He also uses it as a walking stick and poker, depending on his mood. He has even said "duck" a few times when he's excited to see it.
However, Noah's excitement for the duck has not rubbed off on Emma. She tends to be in the duck's way as it is clicking around the house. The duck is always running into Emma's paws, and sometimes Emma is on the receiving end of a poke or two. Now here's the funny part - look at the picture - Emma is stalking the duck! She looks worn out, and she looks like she's going to pounce on the toy! It looks like the duck should watch it's back! Ahh, life with a 9-year-old dog and a toddler can be kind of comical!Posted by Picasa

Chore Time

Isn't it cute how kids think that chores are fun? Noah is an avid fan of vacuuming and swiffering. Vacuuming has been interesting to him for quite some time now, and he likes Mommy to hold him while she vacuums the rug. He points to where the vacuum should be plugged in, and he helps to put the vacuum back in the closet, then he waves "bye bye" to it and shuts the door. He has been helping with vacuuming in some manner for almost his whole life!
Swiffering, on the other hand, is a newly acquired interest. Once he gets started, he can spend about 10 minutes pushing it around the house. He'll swiffer inside, then go out on the new porch. He's dedicated to his cleaning, and he even lays down on the floor to get under the couch. Take a look!Posted by Picasa

A Bountiful Harvest

We are enjoying a bumper crop of cherry tomatoes this year! This is the first year that we have tried putting our tomato plant out in the yard near the fence, and it seems that we have found the right spot for it. Noah likes to help pick the tomatoes, but he doesn't like to eat the fruits of his labor. Here's some more pictures.
