Fall Camping in the Mountains

We just came back from a fabulous fall camping trip!  We spent two nights in Julian Price Park, which is part of the Blue Ridge Parkway National Park, in Blowing Rock, NC.  We camped with our good friends, and our kids have endless hours of fun playing together, which always makes camping even more fun!
Noah cooked breakfast for us on both days: breakfast burritos and bacon, and pancakes and sausage.  Delicious!

This is Isaac's happiest face!  The largest possible smile!

Slackline!

Heading out on our hike to the Hebron Falls

Beautiful colors along the hike.  We hiked along a path to the falls, then climbed along the boulders.

The fall weather was perfect, and we were in the mountains during the peak of color change.  God's creation is simply beautiful!

Isaac in Action

One of Isaac's favorite places is Defy Gravity. He loves climbing to the top of the rock wall then falling down into the foam pit. Here's a few pictures of Isaac in action:

Flag Football Movies

I caught a few of Noah's flag football plays on video this morning.  This first clip is when Noah started as center then caught a pass and had a good run. I accidentally made the movie in "Slow Motion" mode, so it makes for an interesting movie if you're patient!  Noah is in the red shorts.

The second movie is when Noah was in "Beast Mode" on defense.  He got 3 flag pulls out of 6 downs!

A Highly Successful Start!

Today ends Noah's business at the pool, since the pool is closing for the season. He has had a highly successful and profitable summer. He has received endless compliments from neighbors and gained respect as a businessman. He had fun with his business all summer, and it never seemed like work. He has learned an invaluable amount of information about running a business, and he already has a product strategy in place for next summer. Best of all, he ended the season with a completely empty refrigerator!  Congratulations, Noah!  We are so proud of you!

End of the Pool Season

The pool season has come to an end. We have had countless hours of fun at the pool this summer and we are sad to see this day come, but we're already looking forward to next summer!

Flag Football

Flag Football season has started!  Noah's first game was today. Only 5 players showed up for his team, so all the players needed to play the entire game without breaks. It was above 90 degrees today so Noah was so tired when the game was over!

He did a great job at every position. He pulled a flag on defense and had a good run on offense. Hopefully more players show up next week!

Isaac's New Sport

Isaac has started playing golf!  He is playing through an organization called First Tee. He has his first practice today, and he is hooked!

Isaac is a left-handed writer, and a right-handed thrower. The current mystery is if he will play golf right or left handed. He has played both ways and he seems equally skilled either way!

First Day of School!

Isaac started first grade today with a happy heart and a joyful spirit!  He couldn't wait to see all his friends again!

Noah couldn't wait to get to fourth grade today. He said, "I've set some big goals of excellence for myself" and he's ready for some new experiences!

I started school today too!  I'm the Math Facilitator at the boy's school this year, and I couldn't be more excited!  School year, here we come!

Light Rail Adventure Day

Light Rail Adventure Day
August 5, 2016

Summer vacation wouldn't be complete without a trip on the Lynx light rail train to uptown Charlotte. We stopped for lunch at Pike's then continued on the light rail to Imaginon. We explored the new First Ward Park (right next to Noah's engineering camp building) and checked out a few books at Imaginon. Then, of course, we stopped for ice cream before riding the rails again. Today was forecasted to be rainy, but thankfully it turned out to be beautiful!

Webolo Adventure Camp

Noah and Matt are off to Webolo Adventure Camp for the next three nights!  Isaac and I took Noah to camp and helped him get situated in his tent with his roommate. It was tricky to get the mosquito netting hung around Noah's bed, but we did it!  Matt is joining the scouts tonight for dinner, and he will be sleeping in a tent next to Noah's. It looks like they will have lots of fun activities like swimming and canoeing. The temps are in the high 90s - 100 degrees, so they will also spend a lot of time cooling down after their activities.

Open for Business!

Noah is officially a business owner!  He is selling cold drinks and candy inside the club house at our neighborhood pool. He has a wide variety of drinks for sale. The best part is that his customers can pay using their smart phone, so it Noah does not need to actively work at his business. He has learned that passive income is a great type of income!  Today is his first day of business, and he is anxiously awaiting notification of his first payment.
